Ori Developer Moon Studios Prepares to Take on Giants in ARPG Genre

The developers behind Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps are aiming to revolutionize the action role-playing game (ARPG) genre with their upcoming title. Moon Studios has their sights set high, with CEO and game director Thomas Mahler stating that their next project could make or break the studio. They are not playing it safe and are ready for the challenge of taking on big names in the ARPG space such as Diablo and Path of Exile.

Mahler took to Twitter to share the news that the upcoming game will have a top-down camera perspective. This announcement comes after the reveal that Private Division, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, will publish the game. Moon Studios was formed in 2010 by Mahler and Gennadiy Korol, and they credit their success to their iterative polish process.

The job advert that first revealed Moon Studios’ new project called for applicants with experience playing games such as Zelda, Diablo, and Dark Souls. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to work on an RPG that dares to innovate and go far beyond what the genre has offered players thus far. Mahler’s statement on Twitter echoes this sentiment, with Moon Studios determined to revolutionize the ARPG genre.

Moon Studios has been working on the upcoming game for some time, and they are confident that it will rise above anything they have created thus far. The Ori series has been a fantastic experience for the team, but they are ready to aim even higher with their new action RPG. As Mahler said, “may the best one win.” Moon Studios is not afraid of the competition, and they are excited to take on the challenge of revolutionizing the ARPG genre.
