It seems that SEGA has deemed 2020 as the year of Sonic, as the company has revealed that news regarding the blue hedgehog will appear each month.
Dubbed the “Sonic 2020” project, SEGA will release new Sonic the Hedgehog information on the 20th of each month, with today’s being announcement of the project itself. However, it does seem that the official SEGA website has added small goodies for fans, including new Sonic wallpapers, avatar icons and more.

Currently, there is no word on what future news updates will entail. Whether we see something as large as new game announcements is yet to be seen, but it does seem likely.
