Saints Row: The Third Recap
For those new to the series, Saints Row: The Third centers around the height of fame for the Third Street Saints. It was originally released in 2011 and developed by Volition, now owned by Deep Silver. Like other Saints Row games, it is an open-world game that allows players to customize their own unique characters. Leveling up your player involves completing missions and special activities to earn “Respect.” Respect acts as XP, allowing you to unlock special upgrades. The more respect you earn, the more abilities you can unlock for your character and the Saints crew.
The main story starts after a failed attempt to rob a bank with two of your top lieutenants. The events of the prologue lead you to Steelport, a city with its own unique gangs and challenges. A turf war will ensue, and it is your job as the Boss of the Saints to take control of Steelport.
Another feature of the game involves the freedom to do whatever you want. For example, players can customize cars, enjoy over-the-top minigames, and even use some inventive weapons (i.e., the Penetrator). Most of the game sounds a bit like a joke, with suggestively punny titles and ridiculous activities to complete.
What Will the Remastered Edition Include?
According to Deep Silver‘s website, the remastered version of the game will have “enhanced graphics, improved lighting, reworked environments, and visual effects.” Online co-op will also be available. The remastered edition includes 30 DLCs plus the three mission pack expansions: “Genkibowl VII,” “Gangstas in Space,” and “The Trouble with Clones.”
Fans are eligible to purchase the remastered edition of Saints Row: The Third on May 22, 2020.
