Divinity: Fallen Heroes – A new series entry!

Divinity: Fallen Heroes is the newest entry into the series. Will it live up to any and all expectations? Come take a quick peek!

Divinity: Fallen Heroes

Larian Studios have recently released a trailer for their newest title, Divinity: Fallen Heroes. Fallen Heroes is being developed out of house by Logic Artists, developers of Expeditions: Conquistador.

PC gaming website Rock, Paper, Shotgun played an early alpha, playing two missions. What they have to say about it was:

“Divinity: Fallen Heroes is sort of XCOM for Divinity: Original Sin 2, but doesn’t have its guns yet.” – Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

While not a mainline sequel, it is apparent that Fallen Heroes is a different game. It has a different combat system to start, leaning more towards a turn-based system. You take your turn, and then the enemy. The typical turn-based game, but the Divinity series has never ended things at just that!

Divinity: Fallen Heroes - Lady Vengeance

“You become the captain of the flying battleship Lady Vengeance, and from there send a squad of four (three basic types e.g. archer or healer, and one familiar heroic face from OS2), out on various missions for complex turn-based murder.” – Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Choice and reason are all thrown back in to the mix, giving purpose and weight to every decision. Just as much, because you’re a captain, if members of your crew don’t like you then there is a chance they might leave. Diplomacy is looking to be more like a central part of the game, which people enjoy.

There wasn’t much seen from the alpha, such as researching technology or any new unit types, but we’re hopeful! Divinity is an RPG series with great value, and release of a possibly great game in the franchise. Expect Divinity: Fallen Heroes to come out on “multiple platforms” this year!
