4K televisions are still not commonplace among consumers. With the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X both heavily marketing 4K capability, it might seem like a sham that a 1080p television owner might not necessarily be able to take advantage of this. However, the Xbox One X will be capable of supersampling. Supersampling has not been used in many circumstances. For the Xbox One X, this will improve image, framerate, and textures of the gameplay making the games look and play better, even on a 1080p television. Supersampling takes the 4K capability and scales it down to be optimized on a 1080p television.
When asked about it, Aaron Greenberg, head of marketing for Xbox games tweeted,
“We plan to show this clearly before release.”
He was implying that supersampling on the Xbox One X will be discussed and displayed clearly before the release date of the Xbox One X, November 7th. The technical and marketing potential of supersampling on the Xbox One X, could in theory appeal to a lot of 1080p television owners. So far it seems like good news for Microsoft, as the preorders for the Xbox One X have already sold out.
A beta for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been announced for the Xbox One X. The beta will be coming soon. With the Xbox One X’s release just a few days away, there is a lot of reason to be excited for the ever-popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds affiliation with Microsoft.
On November 7th, the Xbox One X will be released at a price of $500 USD.
