Ubisoft Clarifies Release Window for Star Wars Outlaws After Blog Post Error

In a recent turn of events, it seemed like Ubisoft’s highly anticipated open-world heist game, Star Wars Outlaws, was set to launch towards the end of 2024. This information originated from a Disney Parks blog post, offering a more precise timeframe than the previous expectation of a 2024 release.

The blog post stated, “For Star Wars fans—Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world Star Wars game is set to release late this year.” It went on to describe the game, highlighting the opportunity for players to explore various planets in the galaxy as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and a fresh start, accompanied by her companion Nix. However, shortly after the post gained attention for its “late this year” announcement, it was swiftly edited to remove the specific timeframe. The revised version now mentions that Star Wars Outlaws is slated to come out “in 2024.”

The question arises: was this a inadvertent leak, akin to when Warner Discovery CEO David Zaslav unintentionally revealed details about Mortal Kombat 12, or was it a simple typo, comparable to when fingers misinterpreted “Minecraft” for “Minesweeper”? Regardless of the reason, the late 2024 release window seems plausible, especially considering the holiday quarter’s traditional significance as a lucrative season. With the new year here and no updated release window, a later release in 2024 seems more likely than an earlier one. However, there’s always the chance that Star Wars Outlaws follows a similar path to Skull and Bones, potentially sailing into 2025 and beyond.

In response to the confusion, Ubisoft clarified the situation. In a statement to PC Gamer, a Ubisoft representative acknowledged that the blog post was an error, emphasizing that the release timing remains unchanged and is still set for 2024.
