Surprise! Roblox Unveils Official Jaws Game

In a collaboration that caught many off guard, Steven Spielberg’s iconic 1975 thriller, Jaws, is making a splash on Roblox, the platform adored by a predominantly youthful audience. Admittedly, I might be biased—I watched Jaws obsessively at the tender age of eight due to my shark fascination.

Titled Jaws

Infested Waters and developed by Orange Comet / Gcraft in partnership with Universal (as reported by Bloody Disgusting), this Roblox experience is turning heads. Curious about Orange Comet’s background, I discovered their knack for riding waves of trends, like offering NFTs of Anthony Hopkins’ face. However, despite past dalliances, this adaptation of Jaws appears promising, drawing parallels to the Jaws board game.

Confession time

I’m such a Jaws fan that I coerced other adults into playing the board game with me. In Jaws: Infested Waters, players can either play as the shark or one of the shark hunters. One lucky player assumes the role of the shark, tasked with devouring swimmers, evading detection, and upgrading abilities. And yes, the shark can even “tail whip players across the map,” reminiscent of scenes from the movie!

While the board game allows players to step into the shoes of Chief Brody, Hooper, or Quint, Jaws: Infested Waters takes a slightly different approach with its shark hunters. Although specifics are vague, the trailer hints at a distinctly Roblox-style Brody. What sets them apart are the addition of missions for the shark hunters and the promise of intense “underwater battles,” which likely have only one outcome.

Let’s not forget the promotional line that brought a smile to my face: “see who will win the battle of the infested waters and become the ultimate sea legend.” While the game is currently available to some users, it officially launches in March with no age rating as of now.

Personally, there’s something oddly fitting about the Roblox aesthetic in this context, and I can’t help but be charmed by Bloxy Brody. Plus, if this game introduces a new generation to the thrills of one of Hollywood’s finest, it’s a journey I’m happy to endorse.
