Sam Barlow’s Half Mermaid Teases Two New Projects on Steam, Including a Cinematic Mystery and Survival Horror

Renowned game developer Sam Barlow, known for titles like Her Story, Telling Lies, and the critically acclaimed Immortality, has unveiled teasers for two enigmatic projects on Steam—Project C and Project D.

The Steam pages for both projects are shrouded in mystery, with redacted details and cryptic messages. Project C hints at a cinematic experience never seen before in a video game, featuring a biblical quote as its opening and promising groundbreaking elements.

On the other hand, Project D takes a darker turn, being described as a survival horror set in 1983. The brief description includes keywords like “nurse,” “nightmare,” and a cautionary “be careful,” adding an air of suspense and foreboding to the project.

While Project C aligns with Barlow’s previous works, known for their FMV mystery-thriller genre, Project D seems to mark a departure into third-person survival horror—a new territory for Half Mermaid. SteamDB lists Project D as “Doors,” and the teaser images, though evocative, provide minimal insights.

Barlow’s teaser strategy mirrors his past approach with Immortality, where he used a code name and a redacted Steam page to build intrigue. Despite the lack of concrete details, Barlow’s reputation for creating thought-provoking games ensures heightened anticipation.

The teaser videos offer glimpses of intriguing elements, such as a reference to Nixon saying, “We are Americans,” and other mysterious audio cues. Barlow, remaining tight-lipped, only mentioned the team’s attempt to release teasers sneakily, acknowledging the internet’s quick detection.

As of now, there is no information on release dates for either project. Inquiries have been made to Half Mermaid for further details, although the secretive nature of the teasers suggests that more information may be revealed only when the time is right. Stay tuned for updates on these mysterious new additions to Sam Barlow’s repertoire.
