 Pokémon: The Movie 2000

1.1        Background of Pokémon: The Movie 2000

Pokémon: The Movie 2000 tells the tale of the second season of Pokémon: Adventures on the Orange Island. A Pokémon collector named Lawrence III is on a mission to capture the three legendary Pokémon of fire (Moltres), ice (Articuono), and lightning (Zapdos) in order to upset the natural balance and awaken the legendary Pokémon Lugia. The ultimate aim for Lawrence is to capture Lugia for his legendary Pokémon collection.

Meanwhile, a legend circulates that if Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are disrupted, they will battle each other till the end of time, and the Earth would crumble to ash. Only the chosen one will be able to save the world, therefore be sure to read till the conclusion or go to the specific plot of the narrative through the content, as we know your time is valuable as well.

1.2        Pre-Credits

The movie’s pre-credits depict Lawrence III seated aboard a ship on his way to capture his first Pokémon. After arriving to the fire island, he strikes the island with his ship’s powerful weaponry, and we soon discover Moltres wandering around. Moltres attempts to destroy the spacecraft, but Lawrence’s technology defeats him, as he effortlessly catches Moltres with lightning rings.

And now that Moltres has been apprehended, Lawrence must apprehend Zapdos and Articuno in order to obtain his ultimate reward. As he ascends towards Zapdos, we should observe other aspects and plots of the narrative.

1.3        Pokémon Trainers

Ash, Misty, and Tracey, together with their Pokémons, are on vacation once more, and at this point in the plot, we must recall that poor team rocket, with a restricted budget, is also on their work, chasing them to capture Pikachu.

While they are all having fun, they notice something peculiar as a beautiful summer day soon transforms into a storm. Because they are prone to it, all Pokémon experience the disruption in nature. Their ship soon stops operating owing to a big storm in the sea, and they eventually come to a halt directly in front of Orange Island.

1.4        Destiny of the Chosen One

On Orange Island, they make some new acquaintances while preparing for a festival. According to the legend, they are looking for the chosen one who can avert the doomsday when the world needs him the most. Melody, the festival’s chief, turns towards Ash and considers him to be the chosen one for their festival. Despite her disbelief in the legend, she nonetheless celebrates the festival by playing a lovely music that sounds like the voice of the legendary sea Pokémon Lugia.

Melody then reverts to the Ash, toying him in her own unique manner. She claims that because he is the chosen one, he must obtain the treasure glass balls from the ice, fire, and lightning islands. When he achieves this, the same music that she just performed, known as the guardian song, will cure the world. Ash, who is usually getting himself into trouble, falls for her mockery and decides to go on an adventure. As a result, Ash continues his quest to the fire island in search of the glass ball.

1.5        The First Adventure

A huge storm strikes the sea while Ash is on his way to the island, giving Melody and Ash’s pals back on Orange Island shivers. So, they decide to pursue Ash. Meanwhile, Ash’s ship collides with the fire island, and because Pikachu has recently been acting strangely, he and Ash take off fleeing. Ash encounters the first glass ball while chasing Pikachu, but they are soon confronted by team rocket, whose aim was to catch Pikachu. At this point, Ash had nowhere to go, and it was extremely hilarious when team rocket was spicing and Melody ships came up behind them, forcing them to run.

1.6        A Disorder in the Power of Nature

Ash was ready to return to Orange Island when they saw the legendary lightning Pokémon Zapdos wandering about and blasting the fire island with his powers. It was the disturbance in power that caused Zapdos to expand his realm. Pikachu attempts to communicate with him via lightning, and after receiving a strike, it is verified that Zapdos is on the fire island because Moltres has gone missing, and so he wishes to expand his territory. Lawrence intervenes and manages to catch Zapdos, and also Ash, and his pals when Zapdos and Pikachu were conversing.

Meanwhile, with Zapdos and Moltres now imprisoned, Articuono flies to Zapdos island to make it his own domain, while Lawrence also arrives to seize.

Ash attempts to free the legendary Pokémon by storming their captivity aboard the ship. They manage to liberate Moltres, but he immediately begins fighting Zapdos, destroying Lawrence’s spacecraft. At that point in the narrative, Ash, Melody, and everyone else realized that the legend is true, and the entire planet will soon turn to ash.

They witness Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres engaged in all-out conflict, attempting to kill each other after escaping from Lawrence’s ship. Ash and his crew escape, obtaining Zapdos’ treasure glass ball, and are taken back to Shamouti by a mysterious waterspout revealed to be legendary Pokémon of the sea; Lugia. Lugia tries to halt the combat at first but is outmatched by the combined strength of the birds. Melody recognizes the situation and plays the Lugia tone via her instrument, allowing Lugia to reclaim his full potential. Then, Lugia telepathically reveals that the birds can only be tamed if the chosen one places the glass balls on the shrine.

1.7        The Chosen One

At that point in the story, Ash’s pals analyze the legend and conclude that “the world shall turn to ash” refers to Ash himself due to his name. Although Ash initially believes that his mother should have named him Bonz rather than Ash, he quickly gathers bravery after realizing that the glass balls only shined when they were in Ash’s hands. So, he places the first two treasure balls on the shrine and goes in search of the third one. He feels like the frozen one instead of the chosen one after walking in the snow. Jokes aside, the plot shifts here as well, with Team Rocket finally admitting that they have never done anything worthy of being dubbed heroes, and they build a speedboat out of a dingy in the hopes of saving the world by assisting Ash. As a result, the team hurries to Articuno’s Island in order to obtain the last treasure glass ball, but their progress is halted by the legendary birds before Lugia saves Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket.

Team Rocket notices that they are slowing Lugia down as he flies to prevent the legendary birds and restore the balance of nature. As a result, they bravely jump into the water, risking themselves for the benefit of the planet. Lawrence confronts Lugia out of nowhere before he brings Ash and Pikachu to the island, but Lugia uses its Aeroblast attack to smash his airship and take out Moltres and Zapdos before crashing into the water.

Lugia realises that this time he has failed. Ash was also knocked out, but his companions rescued him just in time, and he managed to place the final prize glass ball on the shrine just in time.

1.8        The World Turns to Ash

After placing the final treasure glass ball on the shrine, the place becomes oddly mythical, and the legend that states that when the order of ice, lightning, and fire is disturbed, the earth will turn to ash proves to be true. Melody performs Lugia’s song once the water turns green, which Lugia claimed will be enough to tame the legendary birds. While she was singing, the storms stopped, and the legendary birds returned to their senses, and the peace has been restored with harmony among them. Furthermore, Lugia rises from the sea, carrying with him the true best of the sea, which is an undersea current that has been changing the climate.

1.9        The Beginning of the End

After the birds had flown back to their own islands, Lugia turned to Ash and offered to take him and Pikachu for a ride to show his appreciation for the chosen one’s sincerity. Following that, he also departs. When Team Rocket, who have been sidelined from the main plot, finally reach the island, they are under the impression that no one has witnessed their brave and noble act, but Slowking assures them that everyone (the audience) watching saw their bravery.
