New Destiny 2 Modes Announced

Bungie announces return of the Iron Banner and the introduction of the Prestige Raid

The Iron Banner will be returning to Destiny 2 on Oct. 10, 2017. It will end on Oct. 17, 2017, at 2 a.m. PDT. The game mode will only include the Control game type. In Control, opposing teams must take over certain areas of the map and hold them to earn points. Players will receive tokens for participating in the event. After you receive your tokens, you can turn them into Lord Saladin at the Tower. This replaces the previous bounty system in Destiny 1 for Iron Banner. Bungie continues replacing past bounty system with their new token reputation system. Iron Banner will also offer exclusive armor to players for participating in the event. Another change is that the Iron Banner will not rely on power levels anymore.

The Prestige raid will also be arriving on Oct. 10, 2017. It will have a recommended power level of 300 and will still be the Leviathan raid. Bungie does state that there will be some mechanical changes to the encounters but will be minimal.

Bungie also announced they will have more details about Destiny 2’s seasons. They are announcing the specifics at TwitchCon on Oct. 20, 2017. If you are by chance at TwitchCon, their panel will be at 4:30 p.m. PDT in the CoolCat Theater. If you can’t make it to the panel, Twitch will also be streaming the panel on the CoolCat Channel.

Both Iron Banner and the Prestige Raid will be available to play after the weekly reset on Oct. 10, 2017, at 2 a.m. PDT. With recent history, players may have to wait to access these because of server maintenance.
