Video games work well as slot machine adaptations as both share systems and features that are designed to engage the player and keep them coming back for more. Many of the biggest video game titles have seen collaborations or crossovers for slot-based games during the last 15 years. Here are some of the best.

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider became the gaming industry’s first-ever licensed slot machine back in 2004, and it remains very popular with players thanks to its old school graphics and traditional slot experience. Its success spawned a sequel in 2008 titled Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword, which is also played regularly to this day, and a third slot that is currently being developed by Microgaming with its partner Triple Edge Studios.

Street Fighter

Capcom’s Street Fighter has become the latest in a series of iconic crossover slots. Players can select from five main characters, including Ken, Chun-Li, and Guile, and proceed to a five-reel, 25 pay-line game with a plethora of betting options. This slot is perfect for beginners as bets can be made for just $0.01 per line.

Players who get two or more of the Street Fighter logo scatter symbol will trigger payouts. There are several ways to win, and interestingly, the character that is selected at the start of the game acts as a wild symbol alongside brawler Bison. These two characters then face off in a fight in the bonus game where a large prize is on the line.

Gaming system distributor NetEnt’s recently released sequel Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot takes things to the next level with a cast of eight original characters that star in a five-reel, five-row Cluster Pays slot.

NetEnt Director of Games, Bryan Upton says: “In developing Street Fighter II: The World Warrior SlotTM we felt a huge responsibility to ensure our slot game lived up to the iconic 90s original – a videogame which has continued to entertain fans for almost 30 years.”

Resident Evil

Another Capcom made game; the hugely popular horror video game franchise Resident Evil spawned a series of blockbuster movies starring Milla Jovovich before it was turned into an engaging slots game by the development team at bwin.party.

The slot machine uses iconic imagery from the game for symbols in this five-reel, 20 pay-line game. Umbrella Corp, the organization behind the virus that infects hordes of zombies in the video games, acts as the scatter symbol that triggers a range of free spins. At the same time, the standard RE logo is the wild symbol that can make up a multitude of winning combinations.

The most exciting bonus feature is the Umbrella mode, where players have to shoot their way past opponents and beat a final boss to win prizes. This action-packed slot certainly lives up to the IP upon which it is based.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty is arguably the most popular annual video game franchise, and the Modern Warfare entry got its own slot complete with thrilling gameplay and warzone-related imagery. This slot, which has five reels and 25 pay-lines, requires the player to battle past an opposing army to win the biggest prize. While there are unique sound effects and presentation features, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare plays out like a classic slot.

Landing three or more soldiers shooting will activate the bonus game where you can win free spins and multipliers. Advanced players can use aiming and shooting skills to trigger something called an airstrike where even more multipliers up the ante and lead to greater rewards. This game remains one of the best crossover slots available.

Hitman

The Hitman slot machine features the iconic Agent 47 as he attempts to dispatch people via contracts to win a big jackpot. This slot has five reels and 15 pay-lines and a comprehensive bonus feature with expanded wilds that can deliver up to 18 free wins.

Bejeweled

For a more relaxing experience, Bejeweled is one of the best. This slot builds from the title-matching puzzle video game series that debuted back in 2001 and has seen some sequels and spin-offs. The Bejeweled slot machine is a five-reel, 20 pay-line game with two “extravagant” jackpots that can be triggered by landing a sequence of precious stone symbols. This game is unique in that the symbols can mix and match for different prizes.
