Is Anime Satanic? Is it a Sin to Watch?

Is Anime Satanic?

Anime is not a form of evil or satanic, and there is nothing inherently sinful about watching it. To understand why, we need to examine the origins and themes of anime.

Anime originated in Japan and has been around for over a century. It encompasses various genres, from action and adventure to romance and comedy, and often explores complex themes such as love, loss, and the human condition. Like any other form of entertainment, anime can have positive and negative elements, but it is not inherently evil or satanic.

Many anime series have positive messages and promote friendship, courage, and self-discovery. For example, the anime Fullmetal Alchemist explores themes of sacrifice, love, and the importance of family, while Death Note raises questions about justice and morality.

The idea that anime is satanic is based on a misunderstanding of Japanese culture’s religious beliefs and practices. In Japan, anime often includes elements of Shinto and Buddhist beliefs, but these are not necessarily satanic. Instead, they are expressions of the cultural and religious heritage of the Japanese people.

Matt Walsh Asserts Anime is Satanic without any Evidence

Matt Walsh, a far-right podcaster and self-proclaimed “theocratic fascist,” once again sparked controversy with his outlandish remarks, this time by labeling anime as “satanic” without providing any evidence to support his claim.

As he rapidly rises as a leading anti-trans voice on the right, Walsh uses his platform at The Daily Wire, a conservative outlet owned by Ben Shapiro, to voice his complaints about the latest outrage in the right-wing media’s never-ending culture war.

Walsh’s constant state of distress and his casual display of bigotry are evident in his past comments, such as denying the existence of a Black mermaid, criticizing Lizzo as a “morbidly obese weirdo” for playing an old flute, and claiming the racist Great Replacement theory is a “fact.”

In a video first highlighted by Jason Campbell of Media Matters, a viewer asked Walsh for his thoughts on anime. As he has done before with things he dislikes, Walsh immediately associates it with Satan.

It’s really popular amongst teens and young adults. I think it’s all satanic.

I have no argument for it. I have no argument for why it’s satanic. It just seems that way to me. All anime to me seems weird—just like bizarre, creepy.

The Daily Wire provocateur and self-proclaimed self-help expert concluded his remarks by stating that adults should not watch animated movies or series.

“In general, I don’t think adults should be watching cartoons, whether it’s anime or any other kind, with rare exceptions,” he declared.

Walsh appears to have strong opinions on what adults and children should or should not be doing with their time. He has previously referred to adolescence as a “modern plague” and suggested that girls as young as 16 should get married and have children. “At 16, you’re an adult who is mature enough to make decisions,” Walsh stated during his time as a morning radio host.

After a clip of his comments about satanic anime went viral on social media, Walsh took to Twitter to mock Media Matters for “highlighting my most important take” before adding a sarcastic “defense” of his statements.

“I’m getting some heat for saying that anime is satanic,” he tweeted. “I just want to clarify that yes, it will lead to demonic possession in 87 percent of cases, according to studies.”

Of course, Walsh does not actually believe that anime leads to demonic possession or that such studies exist. This is just another example of how he has risen through the ranks of right-wing media by making flippant, often hateful but always self-important comments, only to claim later that he was trolling the liberal community.

He’s just a troll and a blowhard.
