There’s a simple trick in Hogwarts Legacy that I wish I had known earlier when I started playing the game. This trick is how to get any legendary item you want in the game, and I’ll show you how to do it in today’s article. I’ll demonstrate how to get legendary items guaranteed and fill inventory slots to get specific legendary items. The process is straightforward, but understanding the loot system in Hogwarts Legacy is crucial.
In this article, I’ll also be going over some puzzles that guarantee you legendary items from the start of the game. There are several guaranteed legendaries that you can obtain within just a few hours of playing. One such puzzle is outside the library annex on a bridge. Completing the puzzle guarantees you a legendary item.
After solving the puzzle, I’ll review the trick to get legendary items. To solve the puzzle, you need to have unlocked the incendio spell.
You’ll see that the braziers need to be unlocked with the incendio spell. When you light the brazier, you’ll notice that a gear engages and there’s a number on it.
You need to match the symbol below the fire to the number to match the type of symbol. For example, if you see a symbol below the brazier with two balls, the number next to it should be a Roman numeral two. You need to do this for all the other braziers as well. Once you match the symbols and numbers, you’ll be able to unlock the bridge and obtain the guaranteed legendary item.
Now, let’s move on to the important part. Once you drop down the hole, you’ll come across two smaller chests and one big chest at the end. The big chest is crucial, as it contains guaranteed legendary items. These big, ornate chests take longer to open due to the animation, but they contain valuable items.
If you’re looking for a specific item or inventory slot to fill, you can use this trick. Go to the game settings and create a new save game. You can create two save games, and this doesn’t cause any glitches. After you’ve saved your game, open the chest and see what you get. For example, if you get a legendary emerald bloom scarf but you wanted something else, go back to the settings and reload the save game. You’ll be right in front of the chest again, ready to open it once more.
Every ornate chest has a set loot pool for legendary items, so if you’re into playing fashion in Hogwarts Legacy, this trick could be useful for getting interesting gear that specifically fits your character.
Another guaranteed legendary item is available once you can travel to Hogsmeade. If you travel north to Upper Hogsfield, you’ll come across a maze puzzle.
These mazes can be found throughout the world, and if you follow the proper direction, it will create the maze as you walk. To solve this maze, simply hug the right wall. This trick works well for many different types of mazes.
I always recommend trying the maze first. The goal is to reach the center of the maze and find another ornate chest. Once you reach the chest, the maze will disappear, and you can use the save game trick to farm for a specific legendary item. So far, all the legendary items I’ve found are randomized loot, but you can also farm regular chests for legendary items, as they have a loot pool ranging from common to legendary.
Farming the legendary chests makes it easier to get some of the best gear in the game early on.
Next, we’ll go over the Arithmancy Puzzle Doors found throughout Hogwarts. These puzzles are essentially basic math problems, and the hardest part is realizing that the count starts from zero and not one. The goal is to make 21.
For example, if you have a 13 in the top left corner and a hydra worth three, your total is 16. You need five more, so you must find the crab worth 5. The two question marks indicate that the dice need to be rolled to the crab. To make a total of 21, you need to find the other items worth the remaining number of points. If you roll the dice to the correct item, you can open the door.
Several interesting items are scattered throughout Hogwarts, and they are all essentially the same. You can obtain a nice legendary item from these items, such as an unidentified back item. You can re-roll these chests for a high chance of obtaining legendary items, but it’s not guaranteed.
When you come across unidentified gear during your travels, you won’t be able to identify it until you unlock the Room of Requirements, which is about six hours into the game if you focus solely on the main storyline. Once you reach the room, you can identify the gear and see the traits it has equipped.
For example, we identified a velvet house cloak and found that it has the “Destruction 1” trait, which increases damage with combos. Each item will have different traits, and you can equip different traits into them later in the game.
