Forspoken Steelbooks Found in Dump

Forspoken, the highly anticipated action role-playing game from Luminous Productions, has been dealt another blow. Reports have emerged that several Forspoken SteelBooks were found in the trash, indicating that the game may not be living up to its expectations. Released on January 24, 2023, the game has been receiving negative reviews left and right. From the voice acting to the dialogue and even the gameplay mechanics, many gamers are finding it difficult to get behind the title.

The development team behind Forspoken is no stranger to creating highly regarded games. With a history of working on titles such as Final Fantasy 15, it’s no surprise that expectations were high for the game. To take advantage of the PlayStation 5’s graphical capabilities, the team developed the game to showcase stunning visuals and immersive gameplay. However, as gamers have discovered, the game falls short in many areas, leading to a lot of criticism.

Recently, Twitter user maiacelio shared a video that showed several Forspoken SteelBooks in a landfill. While it’s unclear where the items were found, the sight is a disheartening one for fans of the game. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time merchandise has been disposed of due to poor sales. For instance, Funko recently disposed of $36 million worth of figurines after failing to sell in 2022. While the scale may be different, the fact that a new game like Forspoken is already being tossed out is not a good sign.

PlayStation 5 SteelBooks are highly coveted by collectors, but their higher cost could deter buyers, especially if the game they contain doesn’t live up to expectations. This seems to be the case with Forspoken, whose mixed reviews and criticisms are leading to a downward trend. The recent discovery of Forspoken SteelBooks in the trash only adds to the negative perception of the game, even if it’s unclear whether the discs were inside.

The news also coincides with Luminous Productions merging with Square Enix. Given the negative results of Forspoken, it’s possible that Square Enix might pull the plug on the studio and the IP altogether. If the game’s stock isn’t selling, disposing of it in a landfill might just be the easiest way to get rid of it.
