Chainsaw Man Anime Leaves Fans Frustrated: No Season 2 Update at Mappa Stage 2023

Mappa Stage 2023, held on May 21, 2023, at the Tokyo Garden Theatre, brought together the cast and crew of various anime series, including Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga Season 2, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Attack on Titan Final Season, and Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill. The event featured talk shows, presentations, and performances, creating excitement among fans of these popular shows.

However, it was the stage dedicated to Mappa’s highly anticipated series, Chainsaw Man, that left fans disappointed. Many fans were eagerly hoping for a trailer or at least a release date announcement for the second season of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s beloved manga adaptation. Unfortunately, the event failed to provide any updates on the project, leaving fans longing for more.

Chainsaw Man: Mappa Stage 2023 Fails to Meet Expectations

The introduction of Chainsaw Man at Mappa Stage 2023 began with the appearance of a mascot dressed as Pochita, the devil character from the series. Voice actors Kikonosuke Toya (Denji), Fairouz Ai (Power), and Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa) also graced the stage. However, due to health reasons, Tomori Kusunoki, the voice actor of Makima, couldn’t attend the event.

During the talk show, clips of memorable scenes from the first season were showcased. The cast members were asked to select scenes from a bag presented by the Pochita mascot. While fans enjoyed these moments, their excitement was overshadowed by the absence of a trailer or teaser for Chainsaw Man Season 2. The first season had left viewers on a cliffhanger, intensifying their eagerness for any updates.

Hopeful Hints and the Lack of Season 2 Updates

The only glimmer of hope that fans had received was a tweet by Mappa in December 2022, which featured an image of Denji and Pochita accompanied by the words “See you again.” This cryptic message led fans to speculate that the second season was already in production and would be revealed soon. The announcement of Mappa Stage 2023 fueled their anticipation, as it seemed like the perfect platform to unveil any updates about the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, the event concluded without any substantial information about the production of Chainsaw Man Season 2. Instead, the cast showcased live-action figures, dolls, and other merchandise featuring characters from the series. While fans appreciated the entertainment provided by the cast and the engaging talk shows, they were ultimately left disappointed by the lack of news regarding the highly anticipated second season.
