Top 5 Upcoming Games You Must Have

Many amazing games are on their way but there is only a handful that make the list. Check out our list of must have upcoming games.

It seems like every year we have bigger and better games. This year is no exception. E3 revealed to us what we can expect from the upcoming months. With all the games we have seen, only a handful are on our list of must haves. Let’s get into it.

5. Destiny 2

The original Destiny had many problems such as lack of content and story. These two features were later improved upon, but only in paid downloadable content. Improving a game through DLC and updates is okay, but still limits the experience. Not everyone wants to shell out $30 for new content that adds a few more missions, weapons, and a dash of story.

Upcoming Games

Luckily, Bungie listened and are bringing us what we have been wanting. Destiny 2 will include so much more. Players will have more activities to do throughout the world. In the original game, patrolling the world was a tedious task that had you wander around aimlessly. Now, players can explore Lost Sectors which are essentially dungeons. All the Lost Sectors will contain unique enemies and loot. Other major activities include quests and public events.

After playing the Destiny 2 beta, I can safely say the game will feature so much more story. The beta itself contained more story than the first game. The main villain was ruthless and engaging, which made me want to know more about him. I also kind of cared about the characters around me. I wanted them to survive as the Cabal let hell reign down on the last city. This is what a story should feel like and I have to say I am excited to play more. Destiny 2 hits stores on September 6 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and then on October 24 for PC.

4. Assassin’s Creed Origins

Ubisoft has taken a break from the Assassin’s Creed franchise and replaced it with a movie. This break was due to the last few games be unsuccessful among fans. AC Unity was a major part of this break. The game contained many bugs and glitches. Even though the game contained many new features such as downward parkour, customization, and a new stealth mechanic; the constant bugs were the biggest issue.

Upcoming Games

After many small leaks of where the next game might take place, it has now been confirmed that Egypt will be the setting. This ancient setting has been a long-requested location and is now coming to life. A brand-new combat system is taking effect as it is now a hit box based system. This allows for more strategy in combat than previous games offered. Players will now actually have to pay attention to their enemies’ weapons and positions.

Some other new systems include levels and side quests. Side quests are always optional and the areas that they take you to can always be accessed at later times. You will be able to explore the great pyramids on October 27.

3. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

Dishonored 2 released last year and received good reviews. The game follows either Corvo or Emily as they try to take back the thrown from Delilah Copperspoon. Both characters wield unique abilities as they try to get the job done with the help of a few allies. One of those allies is getting her own spin-off sequel.

Billy Lurk is the second to the famous assassin Daud. Both characters plan to kill the Outsider who is responsible for Corvo’s powers in the original game. Billy and Daud believe he is the cause for all the death and destruction in Karnaca.

Gameplay will be similar to the first two games, but may feature fewer abilities. Billy only has one arm in the second game, but now we see her with a metal arm that has a few upgrades. Little is known about the Outsider, so the story will pull back the curtain on the shadowy figure. You can take the role of Billy Lurk on September 15.

2. Star Wars Battlefront II

Similar to Destiny, the first Star Wars Battlefront game did not do so well with fans. The game released with very little content and not a speck of single-player. This angered fans of the original games, because those games had story and a lot of additional content. But now after all the fan feedback, we are getting a game that may be the best Star Wars game ever.

When the first trailer released for Battlefront II, people went crazy. It confirmed a single-player campaign, all three eras from the movies, and so much more. We got hints at what was to come, like tauntauns on Hoth and jet troopers on Kamino. These small details were the icing on the cake.

Upcoming Games

What fans should be most excited for is the original story coming from the game. It will follow Inferno Squad, an elite group of imperial soldiers tasked with a special mission directly from the dead emperor himself. This original story will be canon and take place between episode 6 and 7.

Electronic Arts has listened to the feedback of players and have used that feedback to help create a complete game. When it debuted at EA Play, they had a screen slowly showing all the feedback they had received from the game. EA’s response to the feedback has been crucial in this game’s development which is expected to be one of the biggest this year. You can start riding your tauntaun on November 17.

1. Anthem

If you are into video games then you should have known this game would have been number one from the beginning. When Anthem was revealed at E3, people were stunned. The game’s art design, gameplay, and pure concept were immaculate.  Personally, my mouth dropped at the sight of this game. It is one of the best-looking games I have seen in years.

Upcoming Games

Sadly, the game does not release until late next year. However, we can still think about what it might bring us in the future. Many have said the game is a mashup of many different franchises. The game’s combat is similar to that of Mass Effect. This makes sense because Bioware is the studio behind the gorgeous game. Another franchise the game takes after is Titanfall. Mech like suits called javelins are used within the world of Anthem which almost gives them a titan look. The visual aspects of the world of Anthem looks like something out of James Cameron’s Avatar.

With these worlds mashed together and the original ideas that are being used alongside them, players are sure to explore an exciting world of mystery and wonder. Anthem is not set release until the fall of next year so until then, keep dreaming.
