State of Decay 2 officially has a rating from the ESRB.

In a tweet, the Entertainment Software Rating Board officially rated State of Decay 2 as M for Mature. The ESRB listed the following as reasoning: Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, and Strong Language. While this is not necessarily a surprise considering the game’s subject matter, it does seem to indicate that a release date announcement at the very least is imminent.

State of Decay 2 is a sequel to 2013’s State of Decay. Both games take place in a zombie apocalypse. In State of Decay 2, you must not only survive, but build a community of other survivors. The upcoming release adds co-op multiplayer as well. Players will be able to have up to three friends join them and try to survive the outbreak.

State of Decay 2 looks to expand upon the original in other ways, too. The upcoming survival game will be launching with three maps, each roughly the size of the original’s map. Both games are open-world.

Established in 1994, the Entertainment Software Ratings board assigns ratings to games as a way of advising consumers. Games receive ‘M’ ratings when they deal with a high level of mature content. This is usually due to a high level of violence and/or nudity. Players need to be at least seventeen to purchase these titles. Other ratings include E for Everyone and T for Teen.

State of Decay 2 was revealed at E3 2016, with a planned release for 2017. The game was then pushed back to 2017 the following E3. It is set to be released in 2018 on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
