2016 smash hit Stardew Valley will be released for Nintendo Switch on Thursday. The Indie farming sim was hugely popular last year. Despite being a relatively small time developer, the game quickly became one of the best-selling games on Steam. On Thursday the Stardew Valley experience will be available to a brand new player base.
The Nintendo Switch version of the game has been teased for some time now and will contain additional features that other platforms have not implemented yet. Fans of the series will be given extra incentive to buy the game again on Switch. Although the game will not be changed, it will now be portable due to the nature of the Switch. Fans have been calling for a multiplayer mode for some time and the developer has promised to deliver. Following the reveal of the Switch release date, a further release finally puts a date on the long-promised multiplayer mode.
The multiplayer update for PC players and other consoles will be released in early 2018. Although the Switch will receive the update first, other consoles will not be far behind. Gamers will be able to play with three friends, taking part in the farming and mining antics of the game.
