Kingdom Hearts – The Story So Far Announced

In case you have forgotten, Kingdom Hearts III actually has a release date! In preparation for the upcoming game that KH fans have been waiting 13 years for, Square Enix has announced a mash-up of the entire story (minus the phone game Kingdom Hearts χ). Kingdom Hearts – The Story So Far will release for $39.99 on the PlayStation 4 only in the United States on October 30th.

According to the Square Enix Store, the following is in the compilation:

KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX

  • KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
  • Re:Chain of Memories
  • 358/2 Days (HD Remastered cinematics)
  • KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
  • Birth by Sleep Final MIX
  • Re:coded (HD Remastered cinematics)

KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE

  • Dream Drop Distance HD
  • 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage–
  • KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover (movie)

Kingdom Hearts has a long running, convoluted story that spans multiple generations and console platforms. For anyone who wishes to get that story in one collection, this is for you. If you already own 1.5+2.5 Remix and 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue on PS4, this might not be a great purchase since it is all of that content joined together.

Why this collection is not coming to the Xbox One as well is anyone’s guess. With the third game releasing the exact same day as the PS4 version, it would make more sense to allow the new audience to catch up. A quick look at the Square Enix social media comment sections shows even PS4 fanboys feeling bad for Xbox owners who will be getting the new game without prior exposure to the series.

How do you feel about the “new” KH compilation The Story So Far? Do you plan to buy it? Are you an Xbox owner cursing Square Enix under your breath? Let us know in the comments!
