Skyrim VR fails to impress at Quakecon

The Skyrim cash cow just keeps on going for Bethesda it seems. A VR port of the game has been in development for some time. Although little development progress has been shown to the public since E3, this changed at QuakeCon this year.

Bethesda took the chance to unveil their working demo of the port again to gauge reaction. Unfortunately, despite considerable hype for the port it has failed to impress. Criticism was aimed at how the port dealt with movement, the poor AI and the settings required to make the VR port work.

Following his chance to play the demo, the proprietor of youtube channel Super Bunnyhop had the following to say; “my experience with the Skyrim VR demo was a hot mess. An utterly complete dumpster fire of a VR port.”

Although other reviewers were far less extreme in their criticism of the port the general opinion on the attempt seems to be the same. Underwhelming and not really Skyrim.

The studio has 7 weeks until the game is released but following the recent reactions to their project they will have to go back to the drawing board on a number of key issues.
