Soon, there will be more walking dead on AMC’s Shudder.
The horror streaming service has secured the rights in the U.S. and Canada to Shinichiro Ueda’s modern cult classic One Cut of the Dead (Original Japanese title: ‘Kamera o tomeru na!’).
The indie hit was made for the ridiculous sum of $27,000 but has grossed $28 million in Japan and $30 million worldwide since its release.
Cut of the Dead tells the tale of a film crew shooting a zombie movie when a real zombie apocalypse begins. Delighted, the crew decides to keep on filming.
The film has won numerous awards including the Special Jury Prize at the Yokohama Film Festival, Best Director at the Mainichi Film Awards, Best Film at the Blue Ribbon Awards and Best Film Editing at the Japan Academy Prize.
Cut of the Dead will premiere on Shudder later this year.
Shudder’s current collection of zombie movies includes the films Last Ones Out, Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, City of the Living Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Zombie, Day of the Dead and Dead Shack.
