Square Enix announced the remake of the beloved cult classic, Secret of Mana.
Originally released in 1993 as Seiken Densetsu 2 for the Super Famicon in Japan. Secret of Mana follows the journey of main characters Randi, Primm and Popoi as they fight to bring order and balance back to the world.
Square Enix has said the game will be a full 3D remake, featuring full voice acting, new game play elements, and a newly arranged musical score. Based on pictures it seems the art style from the original game has changed a bit to fit with modern day graphics yet you can still see some of the original artwork that was present in the 1993 version, as well as the familiar charm of the environments.
Secret of Mana had a previous re-release on iOS devices in 2010 and Android devices in 2014 as well as the Seiken Densetsu Collection for the Nintendo Switch which was released in Japan only, in 2017.
Preorder bonus for the new remake was announced by Square Enix which will include alternate costume types in the form of “Moogle Suit” and “Tiger Suit” for the heroes as DLC as well as PSN avatars of the heroes. PC gamers can expect pretty much the same preorder bonus with the exception of the avatars being replaced with a wallpaper.
Fans can expect to pick this title up for $39.99 on the PlayStation Store and Steam for PC users.
Look for Secret of Mana to make its grand return February 15, 2018, on PS4, Vita and PC via Steam.
