Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 who have been playing its online beta will be glad to know the wait is over. Players have been giving their feedback on the gameplay, and Rockstar has finally released a full version. With that, a huge update was released on May 14, and it includes new Co-Op missions, Free Roam Missions, Poker, Clothing, Weaponry, and more.
Rockstar states that the Co-Op Missions will “expand today with new missions in A Land of Opportunities for both honorable and dishonorable players.” This includes the Revenge Saga of Jessica McClerk and the Outlaw Strand. They also explained the Free Roam Missions expand with new characters from the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and a variance of new mission types. Additionally, Rockstar adds Poker to Red Dead Online, as they state “Visit poker tables at towns and outposts across the map to challenge your friends to a private, invite-only game of Hold ’Em. Or, raise the stakes and take a seat at a public table, where the buy-ins and rewards are even higher.” Lastly, Rockstar comments that the LeMat Revolver will be “Boasting a 9-round revolving chamber and a secondary barrel for a single buckshot round.”
The Patch also includes the option to choose between Offensive and Defensive play styles. The Offensive play style is the default style that has been in Red Dead Online since day 1. This means players are free to engage with other players in hostility. The Defensive play style on the other hand is for players who would like to avoid the action and play through Red Dead Online in Free Roam. Those players won’t be “alerted to PvP Free Roam missions and can not be pulled into them while in Defensive mode.”
Several improvements in this patch include removed auto-aim headshot tracking (enemy players only), faster weapon swaps/instant projectile lighting, a new control scheme known as “FPS2”. As well as daily challenge updates, new awards, global signal timers, press charges, horse specialty selection, and increased gold payouts.
The free update is available on Xbox One, and PS4 now.
