A month ago now, Pokémon: Twilight Wings was announced, an online mini-series set in the region of Galar. With seven episodes and only a runtime of around five minutes, we had little idea of what to expect. Today, the first episode finally released, giving fans an enjoyable bit of animation and world-building, with a heartwarming story to boot.
The first episode follows a hospitalized boy named John, who is a huge fan of the reigning Galarian Pokémon champion, Leon. When Chairman Rose makes a surprise visit to the hospital he’s in, John rushes to write him a letter with the hopes of receiving an invitation to one of Leon’s matches.
In their official announcement for the series, The Pokémon Company stated, “Pokémon: Twilight Wings will show in detail the dreams of Galar’s residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome, and the conflicts they must resolve.” So, I think it’s safe to assume that each episode will feature a different cast of characters and plots.
Along with the new episode, the Pokémon team has revealed that Pokémon: Twilight Wings episodes will be released on a monthly basis.
This was one of the most refreshing pieces of Pokémon content I’ve watched in a while. If you’re looking for a wholesome Galarian story to kick off your day, check out the episode here. All episodes will release on The Official Pokémon Youtube channel!
