Pokémon GO Trainers in the US (more specifically Chicago) are in for a treat. Pokémon GO Fest Chicago will last from June 13th — 16th and is the first of three summer events this year. The second will take place in Dortmund, Germany on July 4th — 7th. Lastly, the third event will last from August 6th — 12th in Yokohama, Japan. The Chicago event is right around the corner, and Trainers will be able to meet up with each other and complete special research challenges.
Chicago Pokémon GO Fest
The Chicago event will see Professor Willow task Spark, Blanche, and Candela as the team leaders of Instinct, Mystic, and Valor. Niantic states that “Each team leader will be responsible for rallying Trainers to complete research both around the world and at each of the three Pokémon GO Fest events this summer. Complete the Global Challenge research alongside the Trainers at every Pokémon GO Fest, and unlock exciting bonuses designed by none other than your very own team leaders the following week!” Spark, Blanche, and Candela will have different research challenges, with different tasks and dates. The Chicago event will only have Spark’s challenges.
Additionally, during the Chicago event, Trainers from all over the world will be able to catch a Shiny Horsea, no matter where they’re located. Niantic also announced that Horsea will spawn more frequently that it usually does. This also means that trainers will be able to evolve their Shiny Horsea into Shiny Seadra, and then into Shiny Kingdra. Players who’ve completed all of Spark’s challenges will have a chance to encounter a Shiny Raikou in a raid. Niantic will announce a date and time for the raids soon. Later, Trainers will have a chance to encounter a Shiny Entei once they unlock Candela’s bonuses. Lastly, Trainers can potentially encounter a Shiny Suicune after completing Blanche’s tasks.
