Sony has revealed what their Ape Escape tweet was teasing, but sorry to disappoint you, it’s not a new game. An official Ape Escape Twitter account was made several days ago, and their first tweet hinted towards a possible Ape Escape reveal.
Fans have been speculating towards what the tweet was teasing, as it translates to “Piposar: 20 years since then. I’ve been running around, but I wonder if there’s anyone chasing me anymore.” Later, Playstation Japan had revealed that they are celebrating 20 years of the iconic platformer series. With this, a blog and a video had been posted, looking back at the achievements the developers had done.
The blog reads as follows: “Salgecchu was born on June 24, 1999 (Thursday) as PlayStation® software. Along with “Everywhere Together”, which also debuted in 1999, this year marks its 20th anniversary.” It continues, “Produced as the world’s first DUALSHOCK® exclusive software, “Salgetcchu” is a unique concept of “catching a monkey that runs around” by using the left and right sticks, and develops a new genre called “monkey caught game”. A variety of mecha and monkey characters called “Piposal” called “Gachameka” have gained popularity. There are 14 titles of series that have appeared in the last 20 years!”
