Playstation 5 Showcase: Big News Announcements

Sony finally let the guns out, with a brand new Playstation 5 showcase today (September 16th). The 48-minute showcase from Sony shown off more gameplay footage of the latest games coming out for the Playstation 5. The big debut reveal was Final Fantasy XVI. The popular RPG franchise is back in a new way with new characters, plot, and enemies. Also, a gameplay look of Spider-Man: Miles Morales was on display, showing off some electrifying action. Later, viewers were treated to a trailer of the upcoming God of War sequel at the end of the showcase.

Price and Release Date

PlayStation 5 launches in November, starting at $399 for PS5 Digital Edition and $499 for PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive

However, the speculation of price and release date of PS5 wanding on people’s minds were put to rest. Sony announced that the base version of the PS5 would be $499, while the digital (and disc-less) edition will be $399. Both consoles will be released on November 12th in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world will have to wait another week on November 19th. Preorders will be available tomorrow at select retailers such as Gamestop, EB Games, GAME (UK), Best Buy, Amazon, and Walmart. All select retailers will have both the base and digital editions of the PS5 at limited quantities.

As for the PS4, Sony introduced a new Playstation Plus Collection. A new benefit feature for Playstation Plus subscribers, where past PS4 games will be available for download and play on the PS5. Also, the launch list for the PS5 was revealed.

The launch title lineup of the Playstation 5 will feature:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Both Standard and Ultimate Edition)*
  • Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War
  • Demon Souls
  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Destruction All-Stars
  • Sackboy A Big Adventure
