Originally released in Japan back in July 2012, Phantasy Star Online 2 never found its way out of Japan. It was a shame for many, since gamers would claim they grew up with both PSO and the Monster Hunter series. While Monster Hunter World would become Capcom’s biggest title, PSO2 would seemingly fade into obscurity. Until now.
By some miracle, the series would finally find its way to the west. One of the big draws of PSO2 is how the maps are auto-generated with sudden events. There are also different planets to explore, and a multiplayer party area where you can have up to 12 players playing together at the same time. The game will have a wide range of customization options, such as costumes, hairstyles, and accessories. You can also adjust the character’s height and body shape, and the length and thickness of arms and legs. This is done using a morphing feature for unlimited customization and design combination.
Phantasy Star Online 2 will release in Spring 2020 and will be a free-to-play experience. There will be no limitations on the game’s experience such as class level caps or any direct purchases of high-tier weapons. If players still find themselves in need of assistance for their quest, the micro-transactions are there to help if they need it.
No word on the game coming out on other platforms. It is only set for the Xbox One at this time.

How’s it going everyone, I’m Mike Sol and I am one of many contributing writers to Culture of Gaming. You can usually find me playing some of the latest games to come out, although I tend to avoid anything related to sports or strategy. I enjoy the big three and all the games on them but my main console is the Xbox One. I don’t have a specific preference in gaming, but any game that has fun action and beating up waves of enemies is usually my cup tea. If you ever want me to game with me or want me to write about something of interest, feel free to hit me up. I hope to have a personal blog set up soon, but my loyalties shall remain with CoG.
