With all of the hype and news concerning EAs Star Wars Battlefront 2, it is pretty easy to forget it is the second game of that name. However, gamers of a certain age will fondly remember playing the old Battlefront games. The games had a reputation as some of the best multiplayer experiences of their generation. Despite a dedicated fan base keeping the games alive on custom servers, the games seemed to be dead and forgotten. Well not anymore.
Working together, GoG and Disney have worked to bring the classic game back. Although anyone with the game could play its single player mode, multiplayer was only a distant memory, until today. With less than a month to go for Star Wars Battlefront 2, series fans and newcomers will be able to revisit the multiplayer that arguably started it all. Thankfully, owners of the game on steam will not miss out. cross-play between GoG and Steam ensures everybody can enjoy the revival. In a press release, GoG stated;
“Together with Disney, we’ve brought back the classic STAR WARS multiplayer experience once and for all! Powered by GOG Galaxy, players on GOG and Steam can once again clash in what is still one of the best and most iconic STAR WARS games ever produced.”
That’s not all! To celebrate this, Battlefront 2 has seen a huge price drop, meaning you can try out the multiplayer on the cheap. What better way to prepare yourself for next month’s release? Despite the old age, the hype for EAs upcoming game is sure to draw in at least some curious players. The legacy experience is available to all owners of the game now, with no special tools required.
