Gamescom 2018: During a presentation of the upcoming Ori and the Will of The Wisps, a brand new mode to the series was announced. MoonStudios seemed rather excited to share that the upcoming game will have a sort of dedicated “speedrun” mode where players can quote “veer off from the main adventure and compete head to head with each other”. While platformers have become a staple of the speedrunning scene, Ori and the Blind Forest has been on the absentee side of things, not seeing as much air time as say Super Meat Boy. Hopefully, this mode will bring a semi-competitive running scene to Ori and will be overall well-received both by serious and casual runners. It also offers a dedicated way to “throw down” with your friends, and find out who is the fastest in all of Nibel.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Ori and the Blind Forest by Moon Studios, and published by Microsoft Studios, and is expected out on Xbox One and PC sometime in 2019. After seeing the E3 trailer below, I can’t wait that long.
