While Pokémon Go has improved by leaps and bounds, one feature that has yet to see the light of day is online PvP battles. Currently, players can only compete against each other through local play. Luckily, Niantic plans to soon change that in 2020.
The official Pokémon Go Twitter page recently made a post announcing a new feature coming early next year known as the Go Battle League. The post can be seen below.
Are you a #GOBattle champion among your group of friends, Trainer? How about compared to the rest of the world? 🤔🌎

According to the Pokémon Go Site, Niantic hopes that this new feature will encourage exploration of the outside world. In order to gain entry to the league, player will simply have to take a walk. Once done, players can battle each other in online PvP battles through a match-making system in order to increase their ranks.
The Go Battle League sets to make Pokémon Go battles “more competitive and accessible to more Trainers.” The exact details of how everything will work is still unknown. Go Battle League will release in early 2020.
