Since the beginning of the year, we’ve heard rumblings of a Nintendo Direct. At first it was (supposedly) supposed to be in January; that didn’t happen. But at long last, a new Nintendo Direct approaches, and it’ll go live tomorrow, February 13th at 2PM PST/5PM ET.
What will Nintendo showcase? Most likely, we’ll get a few more details about the upcoming Yoshi’s Crafted World. Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing on Switch are both tentatively scheduled for a 2019 release; Nintendo will have to start marketing both games soon if that’s true. Bayonetta 3 is still a big question mark. Ever since the Game Awards 2017 trailer, we haven’t gotten a single peep from Nintendo or Platinum Games on its status. Of course, the recent Metroid Prime 4 delay leaves that out of the running for a spotlight. However, the Metroid Prime Trilogy has been heavily rumored.
There are a bunch of Indie games coming up that Nintendo is sure to briefly highlight, including Shovel Knight’s final expansion, King of Cards, and the top-down hack-and-slash CrossCode.
A few third-party games are on the horizon as well, including Mortal Kombat 11 and DOOM Eternal. We wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo highlighted either of these games. Of course, Nintendo will most likely censor both games in the direct out of consideration for some of their younger viewers.
Beyond that, everything else is a toss-up. Nintendo has kept to themselves so far about their 2019. Could we get a top-down Zelda game? Pikmin 4? A return to the F-Zero franchise? We’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to have a full recap of the direct ready after it airs.
