Pokémon Go’s Community Day events have always brought players together to catch special Pokémon each month. This time, Niantic plans give more power to its audience by allowing trainers to vote for the next featured Pokémon for the upcoming February Community Day.
In order to emphasize the community aspect of Community Days, the developers will let players choose between four different Pokémon to become featured this month. Each candidate will learn a special move that you could not obtained normally if selected. The four possible Pokémon and their Community Day moves are as follows:
- Vulpix/Alolan Vulpix – Weather Ball
- Machop – Payback
- Rhyhorn – Rock Wrecker
- Dratini – Superpower
Of course, Niantic has come up with a unique way on how to select the winner. Rather than voting in a poll, players will have to finish special Field Research Tasks. On February 1st, from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM local time, you can obtain these tasks from various PokéStops. Each of the potential Pokémon will have a task associated with it, and completing it will count as a vote for that Pokémon. Once the voting period ends, the Pokémon with the most completed tasks will become the Community Day Pokémon. The winner will be announced on Monday, February 3rd.
The February Community Day will occur on February 22nd from 11 AM to 2PM local time in the Northern Hemisphere and from 3 PM to 6PM local time in the Southern Hemisphere. As usual, the event will offer increased Pokémon spawns and triple the amount of Stardust than usual. For more information, you can always head over to the official Pokémon Go website.
