Fans of Rockstar’s wild West series just got another reason to be excited.
The new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally arrived. We now have a better idea of what the game is going to be about. The trailer was released after some teasing and hinting from Rockstar, and we can finally view it in all its glory. Have a look for yourself.
As was rumored, the game is actually a prequel to the first game. The story concerns a new protagonist, Arthur Morgan, a member of Dutch’s gang. Fans of the first game will already know that this is the gang that the first game’s John Marston was a member of, as well as antagonist Bill Williamson. It would be a safe bet to assume we will see some of these two in this game.
The trailer itself, as expected, looks stunning. Series veterans will be familiar with the sun-bleached landscape that is the backdrop for its violent plot. Something else you may notice about the trailer is that Arthur (the player) doesn’t seem to be a very nice person. This should be expected, of course, as he is a member of a gang of outlaws. Still, the contrast with John Marston in the first game is noticeable, even in the short trailer. While Marston was a criminal that just wanted to come good, Morgan seems fully ingrained in the criminal life. This could present a whole new avenue of storytelling for the series.
We’re also treated to glimpses of returning gameplay elements from the first game. Morgan lassoing a horse and hunting. Also revealed is the fact that, as many fans were hoping, the game with feature a bow and arrow as a weapon. It seems the menagerie of animals that players can hunt may have also expanded, as the trailer shows a short clip of an alligator pouncing from the water.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has a tentative release date of Spring 2018 and is not yet rated.
