New Gigantamax Forms Revealed For Pokémon Sword and Shield

The latest news for Pokémon Sword and Shield has arrived and gives us a look at some new Gigantamax forms. From what was revealed in the newest trailer, some classic Pokémon such as Charizard and Pikachu will be able to take on these massive transformations in the upcoming games.

First comes Pikachu, which takes on its classic chubby look from the original Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow games. When in this form, all Electric-type attacks become G-Max Volt Crash, which paralyzes all opponents along with dealing damage.

Of course, Eevee also receives its own Gigantamax form. When transformed, its neck fur becomes even more fluffy and all Normal-type moves become G-Max Cuddle. This move not only inflicts damage, but also infatuates all opposite-gendered Pokémon, causing them to possibly not attack.

Other Pokémon with new forms include Charizard, Meowth, and Butterfree. Charizard becomes more monstrous with wings made of flames, Meowth gains an extremely streched-out body and more detailed head-coin, and Butterfree receives enormous wings. Each also receives an exclusive G-Max move that possesses its own unique abilities.

While Gigantamax Pokémon are extremely rare, you can possibly obtain them by participating in Max Raid Battles, However, some of these can only come as special reward bonuses. For instance, Pikachu and Eevee require save data from their respective Let’s Go games, and Meowth will only be available via Mystery Gift from November 15th – January 15th.
