What to Expect From Metal Gear Survive
Konami decided to delay the initial release of the game until 2018. The company originally scheduled the game’s release for late 2017. As the tweet confirms, we finally have a solid announcement for a release. Consequently, some long-time Metal Gear fans are disappointed in Konami’s direction for the franchise. Due to Hideo Kojima’s departure from Konami, fans are not sure exactly what to expect from Metal Gear Survive. The idea confuses Kojima to say the least. Back in Sep. 2016, the Metal Gear creator said this:
“Metal Gear is about political fiction and espionage! Where do zombies fit in with that?”
The game is, by definition, a Metal Gear spin-off title. It takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and before the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. Yet, the game uses the idea of an alternative universe to illustrate a zombie epidemic. Unlike previous Metal Gear installments, Survive’s genre is “survival action.” Players must endure an onslaught of zombies. Its most prominent and exciting feature is in its cooperative multiplayer. Survive releases as the first Metal Gear game after Hideo Kojima’s departure from Konami.
