Marvel’s Avengers: Spider-Man Is A Sony Exclusive

Marvel’s Avengers is swinging in just around the corner on September 4th. Crystal Dynamics announced that Spider-Man would be a Playstation exclusive only character. Sony, which owns the rights to the webhead, will have an additional storyline within their version of Marvel’s Avengers. However, controversially Spider-Man will not be swinging his way onto the Xbox and PC version of the game. This infers that the full experience of the game will be on the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. The team of Crystal Dynamics also announced that Spider-Man would be the only exclusive DLC for platforms. Meaning Xbox and PC will be missing out, which is causing backlash amongst fans.

Sony explained in their blog that Spidey would not be day one DLC, and instead, he will be joining the gang of heroes later on in 2021. The cast being Avengers staples such as Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Hank Pym (Ant-Man), and newcomer Ms. Marvel. Also, confirmed in their blog, that Spider-Man would be available to players for “no additional cost” when he arrives. In contrast, Spidey will be on the only exclusive DLC. Hawkeye, however, will be available as a post-launch DLC for all platforms.

This will mark Spider-Man’s latest outing since his appearance on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order on the Nintendo Switch. His last solo adventure being another Sony exclusive with Marvel’s Spider-Man. There is no confirmed word of a potential crossover between the two games of Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Players will have to wait a while to play as Spidey in 2021. However, players will have a chance to play as a different version of the webslinger in Spider-Man: Miles Morales this holiday for the PS5.

Marvel’s Avengers will release on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on September 4th.
