Avalanche Studios listed new positions on their Careers page in preparation for their new and future projects. Avalanche Studios previously developed Just Cause, Mad Max, Renegade Ops, and The Hunter.
Out of all the positions listed, the most interesting positions are the listings for Technical Director and Senior Multiplayer Programmer. Both positions focus on implementing multiplayer to their Apex engine. Avalanche’s experience with multiplayer isn’t too extensive since four of their games don’t include multiplayer. Just Cause 2 and Just Cause 3 required fans to create mods to add multiplayer to the game.
Another interesting aspect of the job listing is they both list development of a next-generation engine. Under their Technical Director listing, it also states that the studio is working on current and next-generation platforms. Avalanche may just be wanting to update their engine or they could be preparing for a new generation that could be just around the corner.
Other listings on their careers page refer to an unannounced AAA title. It is possible that their next game could release on current consoles and a new generation of consoles. It is unlikely since their next engine is still in development and would add time to their development cycle.
