Internet Explorer Says Farewell in 2021

Had a Hell of a Run

Web browsers have always had it’s main 3; Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Well it’s finally happening. On August 17th 2020, Microsoft has announced it is finally saying farewell to the Internet Explorer browser. In a blog post over at Tech Community Microsoft, they have announced that on November 30th Microsoft Teams app will no longer suppport Internet Explorer 11. On August 17th 2021, all remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE11.

After the listing the dates, users continuing to use Internet Explorer will have downgraded experiences. Legacy users will not be able to connect to Microsoft 365 apps and services. Microsoft will continue to promote the transition to Edge as the go to web browser. Furthermore they have assured users of Legacy IE that it will continue to function as a working browser as well as the legacy apps that are associated with it. And finally in order to bridge the gap with IE users to feel comfortable with Microsoft Edge, there is a Internet Explorer mode to access both browser’s associated Legacy apps.
