Hollow Knight Update Hidden Dreams Gets Release Date

Hollow Knight, a critically acclaimed indie Metroidvania title that released in February of this year, is getting a major update in just two weeks! On August 3, players will be able to download the “Hidden Dreams” update.

Though the update was initially slated for a July release, a desire to give players the most polished experience possible led developer Team Cherry to delay the update’s release briefly.

In the vein of a free DLC, the Hidden Dreams update offers a number of new features.

Included in these are new bosses, music tracks and new methods of traversing the game world. That last feature is likely an attempt to acknowledge and accommodate one of Hollow Knight’s most common criticisms: that the game’s mechanics make exploration rather difficult.

Quality of life improvements such as this are always a positive sign for a game so many months after release. It is noteworthy that Hidden Dreams is referred to by Team Cherry as Hollow Knight’s first content pack. Fans can expect more updates from Team Cherry in the future.

Hollow Knight is currently available on PC, Mac and Linux, with a Nintendo Switch release in development. With an 8.6 critic score and an 8.5 user score on Metacritic, it is the 5th highest rated PC release of 2017.
