In a new title update, Monster Hunter: World and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt come together to bring Geralt of Rivia into the hunt in an all new questline.
Hunters who have reached Rank 16 or above can access “Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest” in which they get to play as the witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia who is still lovingly voiced by Doug Cockle. While tracking down a monster, Geralt accidentally teleports into The New World while strange things have been happening. A leshen has been terrorizing the Ancient Forest, causing the wildlife to act strange. The usual hunter is busy gathering materials, so it’s up to the Witcher himself to take care of things.
Geralt is more than a reskin in this quest as he has his own Witcher’s Silver Sword (which is just a sword and shield) and has unique combat magic to burn monsters in combat. Also as a fully-voiced character, Geralt has the ability to make choices in dialogue that influence the quest’s ending. This includes a secret ending.
If that’s not enough, players can turn their favorite favorite palico turn into an even cuter Witcher creature, a nekker. That’s right, players get a chance to have their very own goblin creature companion that acts just like a palico since it’s a reskin. It almost makes me wish that nekker pets were a thing in the Witcher.
Of course if hunters want to play as Ciri, then they’ll have to complete the contract a couple of more times to get the materials to make her set.
A multiplayer event will be available on February 15 where hunters can fight a more powerful version of the Leshen together. The contracts will only be available until March 1st, so play it while you can.
The title update is available for Monster Hunter: World on the Xbox One and Playstation 4. The content will be coming to PC at a later time.
