Gamer Network, organizer of the biggest UK video games, have announced that both Brenda and John Romero will appear at EGX Rezzed 2019. They will appear for two separate talks that will describe their experience with the game industry over the years.
John Romero is an award-winning game designer and programmer. His work spans over 130 games including Quake, Wolfenstein, and the DOOM. He’s the co-founder of eight successful game companies that include id Software, Gazillion Entertainment, Loot Drop, and Romero Game with his wife Brenda. With over 100 awards, John Romero is considered to be among the world’s top game designers. In fact, he’s still working hard and designing new levels to this day with his new DOOM 1993 episode SIGL. This will take place right after the original 1993 DOOM before the events of DOOM II.
Brenda Romero is also an award-winning game designer, artist, and Fulbright scholar who entered the video game industry in 1981. She has contributed to several titles including Ghost Recon and the Dungeons & Dragons franchises. She is also known for her critically acclaimed analog game series, The Mechanic is the Message, where she captures and expresses difficult experiences through the medium of games. Her experiences have brought her far in life, and in 2015 she won the Ambassador’s Award at the Game Developer’s Choice Awards.
