Gamescom 2017: Microsoft Helping to Publish PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One

After 8 million PC downloads, it’s no surprise Microsoft is looking to expand. With an announcement today, Microsoft is assisting developer Bluehole bring PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to the Xbox One. At a Pre-Gamescom press conference, and later during a Gamescom live stream, the game’s creator, Brendan Greene, announced Microsoft would be publishing an Xbox One only version of the highly popular game. While no exact release date was listed, Greene and the new trailer marked release for late 2017.  width= Microsoft will have little to do with this new version of the game or its development. In a statement, Microsoft indicated the collaboration with Xbox would allow Bluehole to rapidly develop a console version of the game without losing the quality Microsoft and its players expect. In addition, this collaboration would provide resources ranging from technical to sales aspects of production. Given the love players have for the last man standing, Battle Royale style, survivalist, duke it out game, the decision is a wise and exciting one indeed.
