Game Freak Unsure Whether Future Updates Will Bring Old Pokémon to Sword and Shield

As most have heard, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda announced during the Nintendo Treehouse Live Event that not all Pokémon would be included in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. This means that Pokémon not within the Galar Pokédex cannot transfer from previous games. While this news disappointed many fans, some hoped that developers could update the Galar Pokédex later on. Sadly, this might not happen. In an interview with Famitsu, Masuda and Shigeru Ohomori discussed the possibility of including future patches for transferring Pokémon. They specifically mention that they have yet to come to a final decision with regard to bringing older Pokemon forward to Sword and Shield. The developers go on to state that those non-featured Pokémon will have prominent roles in Pokémon Home.
