Graeme Boyd (otherwise known as AceyBongos) has announced that the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Program will be concluding with a final wave of titles that will be available by the end of the week.

During the Inside Xbox stream today, it was announced that this batch of backwards compatible titles will be the last, explaining that the development team was moving on to other projects.

Since its inception, Xbox Backwards Compatibility has brought over 550 titles to the Xbox One platform, from both Original Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles. They expanded the program with the release of the Xbox One X to incorporate X- Enhanced titles.

Xbox has been promoting this service as a core value of their brand since its debut. During yesterdays E3 conference they stated that Project Scarlett, the next Xbox console, will have 4 generations of games on it thanks to the Xbox Backwards Compatible Program.

  • Splinter Cell: Double Agent
  • Armed and Dangerous

Xbox 360

  • Asura’s Wrath
  • Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
  • Far Cry Classic
  • Peter Jackson’s King Kong

Xbox Backward Compatibility was announced at E3 2015 during the Xbox Conference, with the purpose of bringing Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One. Since then, the program has expanded to include Original Xbox titles, and with the release of the Xbox One X; X-enhanced titles.
