EA Responds to Battlefront II Beta Feedback

Electronic Arts has responded to the feedback players have given over the Battlefront II beta. The developers also reassure us on the loot crate system.

Battlefront II

Electronic Arts has given us some feedback on our feedback for the Star Wars Battlefront II beta. In a post on the official website for the game, EA discusses their plans for change and improvements while also addressing loot crates.

In the post EA states, they have plans to change strike mode to best of three. This may be due to the difficulty the First Order had in the beta. Another change they have in store is for the First Order Flametrooper. In the post they state “…we agree he could use a little more… firepower.”

Changes to the infiltration ability for the specialist class may change substantially. EA believes the ability “might be a little too overpowered.” A new feature that may arrive is a system where players are able to stick together more efficiently.

The post then moves on to the infamous loot crates. Many people are concerned with the loot crate system becoming pay to win. To earn crates, players can complete in-game challenges and gameplay milestones. You also have the option of purchasing them with credits or crystals, their premium currency.

Crates will contain a combination of star cards, victory poses, skins, emotes, and crafting parts. Similar to Overwatch, duplicates will reward you with more crafting parts so you can upgrade pre-owned star cards. EA assures us that they are “working towards having the most powerful items in the game only earnable via in-game achievements.” Finally, players must earn the ability to upgrade star cards and unlock weapons. This is done by ranking up.

Loot crates have been a gaming trend the past few years with games like Overwatch paving the way. Earlier this week the ESRB announced that loot boxes are not gambling and compared them to trading card games.
