[:en]Doomfist is finally here! Well… Almost.

After a few weeks in the Public Test Region, Blizzard has finally announced that Doomfist, the latest playable character for Overwatch, will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on July 26th. This new hero based out of Nigeria serves as one of the council member game’s antagonist group: Talon. Believing that the world can only evolve through conflict he dons his powerful gauntlet to obliterate all who oppose him.

Doomfist is an interesting character due to the fact that he was created with a strong fan interest backing it. Back when the game was first revealed in November 2014, Doomfist was referred to only by his name.  His gauntlet was on display and we were told about his ability to level skyscrapers in one punch. Since that time, interest has been building around the mystery of this character and Blizzard have been brainstorming how they can make this character fun to play while making him stand out from the rest of the Overwatch cast.

A Fist that Delivers Doom

As his name would imply, Doomfist is mostly a close-ranged, melee-oriented fighter. By charging his fist, he can launch himself forward towards enemies and send them flying. Should the victim of the punch slam against a wall, they will take additional damage. However, that isn’t to say that he is just a “pull the trigger to punch” kind of character as his left hand is able to fire off shotgun particles out of his cybernetic knuckles that can reload automatically. He can also leap forward as well as uppercut characters into the air to separate them from their team. This makes Doomfist a character who can easily disrupt enemy formations and cause chaos with each punch thrown. If you see him, it would be best to keep your distance from him as he has little to no counters against those who are out of his reach.

Are you excited to play as the new villain character? What are other strategies you can think of that can counter Doomfist? Take a look at the latest Doomfist trailer below and stay tuned to Culture of Gaming for more Overwatch related news.
