Destiny 2: Triggering Heroic Public Events

 srcset=

You’re enjoying your time on Earth in the EDZ killing Fallen enemies, looking for loot and those wonderful golden chests when suddenly the sky darkens, a huge drop ship arrives and a battle in the middle of the zone ensues. Welcome to a public event. Making their return in Destiny 2, these events happen at random intervals throughout all planets. Anyone and everyone can join in on these events whether you are in a fire team or not to help push the forces of darkness back. Public events offer experience and rewards once they are completed. While these rewards are nice, you can actually change the type of loot and the amount of experience gained from these by triggering the Heroic Public Events. These events will net you more experience, coins, and the possibility of an Exotic Engram or some other piece of nice gear.

Each public event has a trigger that changes it from a normal public event into a heroic public event. Certain objectives need to be met within a certain amount of time otherwise you miss the opportunity to trigger the event, for example: instead of taking out the Devil Walker right away, you’ll want to disable the 3 shield generators first which will trigger the Heroic Public Event and change the dynamic of the battle by introducing more enemies and a second Devil Walker. Below is a list of all eight public events and how to trigger the Heroic Event.

Heroic Public Events – How to Trigger Them and The New Objectives

Glimmer Extraction:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: Instead of killing the Fallen Extraction Crew, look for the small devices that beam light to the drill and destroy them. You need to destroy one at each of the three locations to trigger the Heroic event.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Defend the Glimmer pile – Stand in the Glimmer pile until the meter reaches 100%, while defending against an endless swarm of Fallen enemies and bosses.

Ether Resupply:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: When the giant Servitor spawns, focus on the smaller servitors buffing the larger servitor. Keep destroying the small Servitors until the Heroic version begins. These smaller servitors do not hang around too long, so depending on how many of you are in the event you’ll want to use your supers wisely.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Destroy the Giant Servitor – The objective remains the same, however the Servitor becomes increasingly more difficult and will spawn tougher Fallen to defend it.

Weapons Exchange:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: While fighting the Devil Walker, shoot the legs until it collapses. Orbs will fall out and scatter. Grab them and place the orbs into the six shield generators (two generators per shield) surrounding the battlefield to disable the shield. Once all three shields are down, the Heroic Event will start.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Destroy the Devil Walkers – A second Devil Walker will drop down in the area. Use the rocket launchers that were protected by the shields to take down both Devil Walkers with ease.

Witches’ Ritual:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: You’ll start out by defeating a couple of wizards while standing on one of two green circles. Once they are defeated, two crystals will appear on the right and left side above the portal surrounded by a shield. Stand in the green circle to bring the shields down and destroy the exposed crystals.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Defeat the Hive Champion – A Hive Knight Champion will spawn into the area through the portal, defeat him and collect your reward.

Cabal Excavation:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: Stand near the drill to progress the event. Once the meter reaches about 50%, a Cabal Thresher ship will fly in. Destroy the Thresher ship quickly as it only stays in the area for a limited amount of time. Once destroyed, the Heroic event will trigger.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Eliminate the Cabal Centurion Boss – A Cabal Centurion boss will drop into the area. You’ll need to defeat him to complete the event.

Spire Integration:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: For this event not only do you need to protect the central spire, but to trigger the Heroic event you will need to stand on nearby smaller spire pads and charge them to 100%. There are three of these smaller spires pads surrounding the central spike in the area. When all three are charged, the Heroic event will begin.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Defend against Elite Vex and Hydra – Swarms of Vex will spawn into the area including a Vex Hydra. You’ll need to hold them off until the timer runs out.

Injection Rig:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: To trigger this one you will need to destroy 3 vents that become exposed after killing a Scion. The first vent appears at the top of the rig, the second in the middle of the rig, and the third on the bottom of the rig (this one is a little tricky). Once the vents are destroyed, the Heroic event will begin.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Defeat the Cabal Boss, Infiltrator Valus – A Cabal boss will spawn into the area. Hit him with everything you have and claim your prize.

Taken Blight:

  1. Trigger for the Heroic Event: The main goal here is to destroy the giant Blight Orb, which is immune to regular damage. In order to damage it you will need to get the buff called “Blight Receding,” which can be obtained by entering the pockets of blight. Step back outside the pocket and you have about 4 seconds to damage the Blight Orb. Repeat this until the orb is destroyed and the Heroic event will trigger.
  2. New Heroic Objective: Defeat the Blightmaker Boss– A tough Blight boss named Blightmaker will spawn into the area. Defeat this boss to complete the Heroic Event.
