If you’re like us, you’re probably waiting in eager anticipation for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. So you might be interested to hear that that one of the team’s most prominent leads has left for greener pastures. As found by a user on Resetera, Sebastian Stępień, who has long worked at CD Projekt Red, changed his status on LinkedIn. He no longer claims loyalty to CD Projekt Red, but to Blizzard!
Sebastian originally joined the team as a dialogue writer. However, over the course of 12 years, he also became a lead story designer, creative director, and narrative and setting director. As the LinkedIn page notes, he left for Blizzard just this January at an undisclosed date.
The company change ought to be quite the culture shock for Sebastian, since Blizzard’s California headquarters is a long way from CD Projekt Red in Poland. We haven’t determined if Sebastian will work on site or online. All we can glean from the page is his new role: creative director.
Will he be working with Blizzard to develop Blizzard’s next Diablo project, or possibly a new IP entirely? There’s no way to tell for sure, but considering that Sebastian hails from one of the most talented game developers on the planet, it will certainly be exciting to see what he brings to Blizzard’s table.
