One of the creators of Celeste had revealed that the upcoming dlc will have over 100 levels. Celeste released back in January of 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Ever since then, it has won multiple awards including The Game Award for Best Independent Game, and the Games for Impact award. As well as a Metacritic score of 92 on the Switch, fans are looking forward to some dlc.
Luckily for them, that’s what they’re getting. On January of this year, the official Celeste twitter account tweeted a reveal of the next chapter for the indie title. Chapter 9 will be subtitled “Farewell”, and it will be a free update for all compatible consoles. Since then, we haven’t received an official release date of the dlc, but Matt Makes Games have confirmed multiple times that they are still developing it.
On the 31st of May, Matt Thorson (one of the creators) himself, revealed that Chapter 9 will have over 100 levels. So far, Celeste has a little over 700 levels in total, so the inclusion of the next chapter will certainly give gamers a lot of platforming levels to play through. Other details for the DLC included, it will be one of the hardest chapters in the game, and it won’t have strawberries. Additionally, it will be a continuous chapter that won’t have any b-sides, and it will introduce new items and mechanics.
Celeste is considered to be a must play indie from Culture of Gaming‘s very own Mike Szoke. “The story is a beautiful adventure about overcoming one’s anxiety and fears, and fully coming to peace with who they are.” You can read the rest of the review here.
